I thought I’d take you behind the scenes and give you a bit of an insight into the highlight reel of my own career and what led me to becoming an owner of P&H Fine Foods.

As a passionate foodie, you could say that food is in my blood. Not just enjoying the pure pleasure of eating it and the taste sensations it offers but growing up in a family of food enthusiasts I was surrounded by it. My parents owned a restaurant and later a manufacturing company and from an early age I earnt my pocket money putting in the hard yards at both businesses’, becoming quickly accustomed to how meticulously clean things needed to be!

It was not really a surprise that when the time came, I decided to begin my own career in the food industry, first as an apprentice at the Summit Group of restaurants. After a while I decided to spread my wings and head off overseas to work and explore Europe. I spent a number of years working as a chef in different restaurants throughout Switzerland; Hotel Arvenbuel learning all about sous-vide cooking with Andre Ruedi an absolute legend…..and later I was also lucky enough to work a number of seasons on the snow slopes at Suvretta House. Not a bad outlook I say, with the added benefit of hitting the slopes at every chance I had.

When it was time to return to Australia, I decided to hang up my chef whites as such and explore sales, business and product development roles at Uni-chef, and later to larger corporations including FMCG giant NESTLE. Honing my skills across an array of departments from product development, sales, management and negotiations. Working for these larger companies really fine-tuned my skill set and gave me a great deal of knowledge across the entire hospitality and food production industries.

When P&H became available it was time to take a plunge and fulfil a lifelong dream of one day owning a business and being instrumental in driving the future success of the business. After all I live and breathe good food! Which brings us to today and what P&H has become.

Although being a business owner is not without its ups and downs, I wouldn’t change it. I thoroughly enjoy it and am proud to work for a company that strives for excellence while also managing and being part of a team that is equally passionate about providing the highest quality food solutions. It truly is a rewarding experience seeing our customers and their customers enjoying our products.
